The Sacramento Concert Band is sponsored by the San Juan School District and is composed of adult members of the community who enjoy playing and performing in the Sacramento area. The band was formed in 1969 and is known for the quality of its performances and for playing a wide variety of concert band music. There are more than 50 musicians in the band ranging in age from 25 to 93. Some of the musicians have been with the band since it was formed; others have played for many years and some new members join each year.

Music Director Grant Parker is recently retired from the music department at Cosumnes River College where he taught Concert Band, Brass Choir, Music History, Introduction to Music, History of Jazz, Music Theory and Applied Music. He has conducted the Sacramento Concert Band since 1990 and says that, "Nothing pleases the musicians more than having a large enthusiastic audience."

For a listing of our scheduled concerts, visit our Upcoming Events page.

Visit the History of Our Band page to learn about the origin of the band and the band's conductors over the years.

A complete listing of the current band members can be found on the Musicians page.

Photos of the band can be found on the Photos page.

The Members' Page provides pertinent information for the band members.

If you play or have played an instrument, we welcome you to our rehearsals. Some of our band members hadn't played for 30 years before returning to their love of playing music. Some members are still in college or recently graduated and find the band to be an opportunity to continue playing. Whatever your musical situation is, if you would like to play with a community concert band, please contact us.

We rehearse every Monday evening from 7:15 to 9:30 during the school year. Rehearsals are at Rio Americano High School, 4540 American River Dr, Sacramento. We typically perform 3 major concerts a year; one in December, one in late spring and at the Carmichael Park Band Festival each June.
