Arnie Williams

Arnie Williams got his start in music in the 6th grade at SpringlakeEarth Junior High School with the Euphonium. He played both in marching and concert band all through secondary school. After joining the US Navy, Arnie was chosen as Baritone Bugle section leader in the San Diego Recruit Training Command's Drum and Bugle Corps, playing morning and evening colors (raising and lowering of the flag) and for weekly recruit-graduation ceremonies, as well as representing the Navy in numerous off-base musical events. Arnie and the euphonium parted ways during his 12 years in Navy intelligence and for about 20 years in editing and publishing. They rediscovered each othr when he joined the Petaluma Concert Band; during this time he also played cello in the Santa Rosa Junior College Sinfonia Orchestra before moving to Texas. There he played cello in a community orchestra as well as euphonium in concert bands. He also founded the Paideia String Quartet to play for weddings and care facility residents. After relocating to the Sacramento area, Arnie played euphonium with the Rancho Cordova River City Concert Band and in a Euphonium-Tuba trio for several years. More recently he has been playing bass trombone in the West Sacramento Community Orchestra and the Sacramento Concert Band. With SCB, Arnie coordinates publicity and Web site updates. Future plans include playing bass trombone in a jazz group, euphonium with the Capitol Pops Concert Band, and forming a Tuba Euphonium Quartet.
